The free Nymbl app from ACC is designed to be easy to use. If you feel that you still need help, here’s a list of frequently asked questions with answers to help you get the most out of using it.

What is Nymbl?

Nymbl balance

Nymbl is a personalised balance training app you can use in the privacy and comfort of your home. It only takes 10 minutes a day and all you need is a smartphone or tablet. Nymbl is free and fully covered by ACC, so there’s no cost to you.

Nymbl bladder

Nymbl now has an added feature called Nymbl Bladder. It helps improve bladder health and reduce the risk of bladder issues. This feature offers a personalised and evidence-based programme that combines pelvic floor exercises, bladder training, and lifestyle tips to help you with bladder control and confidence in your daily activities.

Who is Nymbl for?

Nymbl is specifically designed for older adults (50yr+) who are looking to improve or maintain their balance in the comfort and safety of their home.

How does the Nymbl help to improve balance?

Nymbl is designed to improve balance and prevent falls, especially in older adults. It combines basic body movements and brain games, which you can do at home in about 10 minutes a day. This combination has been proven to improve users' balance by 30% and lower the risk of falling.

Why do you offer balance training?

We want to help you improve your balance and reduce your risk of falling so you can live confidently and independently.

Do I need to be fit to use Nymbl?

Nymbl is enjoyable and doesn’t need strenuous activity. It involves basic body exercises such as marching in place and shifting your weight to each leg. Nymbl also offers exercises to suit seated users. These basic body exercises are done in combination with fun brain games, like trivia.

Do I need special equipment?

No, all you need is a smartphone or tablet with internet access. You don’t need weights or any other exercise equipment.

Congratulations on taking a healthy step towards better balance, with Nymbl’s free and scientifically proven balance training programme.

In this short video I’m going to show you step by step how to download Nymbl on to your Apple or Android smart phone or tablet.

And how to log into Nymbl and get started with your first day of balance training.

First, grab your smartphone or tablet and locate your app store.

If you’re on an Apple device, your app store icon looks like this.

If you’re on an Android device, your app store icon looks like this.

When you’ve located your app store icon, open the app and search Nymbl in the search bar.

Find the Nymbl app. The icon looks like this.

If you’re on an Apple device, click the blue get button located to the right of the Nymbl app icon.

If you’re on an Android device, click the green install button.

When the Nymbl app is done downloading, and this should only take a few moments,

Click the blue open button if you’re on an Apple device

Or the green open button if you’re on an Android device.

Congratulations! You’re now ready to start training with Nymbl! By investing 10 minutes a day, three to four times a week, you can improve your balance anywhere at any time.

 

Getting started with Nymbl

Are there different levels of exercise? How will Nymbl know which exercises I should start with?

When you first use Nymbl, you’ll be asked questions to:

  • assess your needs
  • personalise the app for you
  • make sure you’re starting at the right level.

How do levels work in Nymbl

Is it safe to use Nymbl if I am at a higher risk of falling?

If you are at a higher risk of falling, Nymbl will begin with exercises in a seated position and gradually progress through the levels as you improve your balance.

If I do it every day, how long until I notice an improvement?

An 18-month trial of the programme showed that users who did more training sessions had a lower risk of falling. Positive results were seen from as little as four sessions.

What personal information do you collect from me when I register with Nymbl, and what will you do with that information?

Nymbl collects your personal information and information about how and when you use the app. They use this information to make the product better, track progress and give you a better experience using the app.

If you need help with using the app

Do I need access to the internet at home if I want to use the Nymbl app?

Yes, you need an internet connection.

Who do I contact for help if I have trouble downloading and using the Nymbl app?

Email support@nymblscience.com for help.

Do I need to have email on my phone to complete the Nymbl app install?

You only need to have an email address to complete the Nymbl app install. You don’t need to verify your details via email.

Can two people share the app account, ie husband and wife use the same account?

No, you must have your own account as Nymbl is customised for each user. Each person needs their own email address to log into the app.
